Make the waste zone small and fixed

Use a closable small bag or lidded container, handled by an adult and placed where the vehicle permits without using footwell space. It is a temporary collection point, not permission to turn the rear row, aisle or doorway into a bin.

Any arrangement must suit the actual vehicle. Do not tie bags around seat belts, block door handles or obstruct an exit. Ask the driver if the placement is uncertain; do not alter the vehicle interior yourself.

Separate wet items and food packaging

Used wet tissues, leaking packages and dry wrappers together can leak and smell. Carry an extra sealable bag for wet items, and dispose of leftover food promptly at a suitable place instead of keeping it in the car.

Medicine, glass, blades, batteries and other special waste do not belong loose in an ordinary bag. Use an appropriate disposal route and keep children from handling or searching the waste zone.

Do a short check before and after boarding

At the first boarding each day, check the bag closure, its position and the supply of spare bags. After a main stop, an adult can collect loose tissues and wrappers. This is easier than waiting until the cabin is full and does not distract a driver.

Before getting out, inspect beneath seats, door pockets and the boot entrance for rolling, leaking or trip-causing items. Clean only while the vehicle is safely parked and people are away from traffic and other users.

Make emptying part of the daily close

At the hotel or another lawful bin, remove the day's waste and fit a new bag. Do not assume every stop has facilities, and never leave waste in nature, at a roadside or in an unauthorised area.

For a larger group, appoint one adult to remind and hand over; everyone else gives waste to that person instead of stuffing it into the cabin. A clear vehicle reduces rolling objects, odours and confusion when important items are needed.
