The issue is not speed alone but whether the body can transition cleanly

For many senior travellers, finishing breakfast does not mean the body is ready to enter a long drive at once.

There may still be a need for toilets, medicine, re-layering clothes, reorganising the day bag or simply letting the stomach settle before getting on the road.

A short buffer reduces expensive corrections during the first road segment

Leaving immediately can look efficient on paper, but it often leads to early stops for toilets, water, medicine or clothing adjustments soon after departure.

That kind of correction usually costs more than the short buffer would have cost at the hotel.

The need for buffer depends on how demanding the first segment is

If the first drive is very short or reaches an easy stop quickly, the risk of leaving right away is lower.

But if the road begins with a long segment, mountain turns or limited stopping convenience, the buffer becomes much more valuable.

Protect the full morning state, not only the appearance of punctuality

Some groups remove the breakfast buffer to reach the first sight earlier, but if senior comfort drops immediately, the value of arriving earlier may disappear later in the day.

A stronger test is whether the group can enter the day smoothly without frequent first-segment corrections.
