Hainan's Lecheng zone links overseas patient growth with broader travel support
A Hainan government portal update says Lecheng hosted nearly 10,000 overseas medical trips in 2025 and is pairing international patient services with visa help, transfers, recovery support and wellness-oriented destination planning.

A June 3 update on the Hainan Provincial People's Government English portal said the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone is intensifying its push to become a more complete destination for cross-border medical travel.
The report said Lecheng hosted nearly 10,000 overseas medical trips in 2025 and more than 4,000 overseas visits between January and April 2026. It also described support elements such as visa assistance, cross-border transfer coordination, recovery care, multilingual access and packages combining traditional Chinese medicine, leisure and cultural experiences.
For prospective visitors, the significance is that Hainan is framing medical access together with on-island travel and post-visit logistics rather than as a stand-alone hospital visit. Patients should still confirm appointment scope, language coverage, payment arrangements and immigration eligibility directly with the relevant institutions before making travel plans.
