Visa-free entry is widening short-notice access to Shanghai for South American travelers

International Services Shanghai reported on June 4 that, one year after China's visa-free policy for travelers from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Uruguay took effect, about 81,000 travelers from those five countries had entered China via Shanghai.

The update says the figure was up 50.5 percent year on year, with nearly 70 percent entering under the visa-free policy. It also notes that border authorities expanded foreign-language staffing and continued promoting online entry-card filing for foreign nationals, while the 12367 hotline provides multilingual consultation around the clock.

For prospective patients and family companions, the takeaway is that short-notice trip planning may now be easier for eligible travelers from those markets. Eligibility, itinerary rules, airline checks and the hospital's own booking requirements still need separate confirmation before departure.
